- Hi Diana,
-
- That would be a 2/4 measure.

- Painful this.....BSEQ mode just don't like doing anything too complex. I've
- run into this problem many times. It's nearly always the odd 2/4 meaure
- that casues problems. This is why I started to use SONG mode exclusively,
- becasue it's much easier to have wierd timing.
-
- You are right in thinking about editting the STYLE. As far as I know this
- is the only solution. I've had a quick play with this and have found that
- you can solve the problem by modifying (in EDIT STYLE MODE) a VAR or FILL to
- 2/4 time (Highlight the time signature, press REC, change the time signature
- from **/** to desired timing e.g. 2/4, then press start, after a couple of
- seconds press STOP...this seems to change the time signature...sounds crazy
- but I can't see any other way of changing it).
-
- The main problem is making the 2/4 fill sound musically correct. What you
- need is a free VAR or FILL that you are not using (In fact an unused INTRO
- or ENDING would probably work too). Copy the pattern just prior to the 2/4
- meaure into the spare VAR/FILL and then change the time signature as
- described above. You will then have an effective 2/4 fill which son't sound
- too out of place. I found that this works, i.e. you only get a 2/4 measure
- (only 2 mentronome leds) when you play the BSEQ, but if you look at any of
- the tracks (e.g. CTL) you will find that the measure is still defined as
- 4/4. I think the STYLE tracks dominate timing so don't worry about this.
-
- If it's only a one off, why not spend a bit of work in EDIT STYLE mode and
- make a specific 2/4 fill based on the STYLE.......it's subtle things like
- this which make all the difference, and it's good that your'e not happy just
- to lenghen a 2/4 to 4/4 just so the backing tracks fit in, like I used to
- before using 16-tracks.

- Hope this helps........it's a bit messy but then BSEQ mode just ain't cut
- out for fancy stuff!
